Real or Fake?

The first day of one of my college classes my professor made us stand in front of the entire class and list five things about ourselves....4 of them were real...one of them was fake. The class had to guess which one was fake. Let me tell you...there were some VERY interesting things said...for example:

Hi, My name is Jane Doe...
-I'm 25
-I work at Saks
-I'm a lesbian
-I have a 5 year old son
-I'm married

Well, living in Texas and knowing gay marriage isn't legal here and the fact that Jane is pretty and very feminine looking, most people quickly picked "I'm a lesbian" as Jane's false statement...Jane (who I knew from a previous class) proudly stood in front of a classroom of complete strangers and said, "No, I AM a lesbian, I AM married (they were married where it is legal), and I DO have a 5yo son from my previous marriage to my ex-husband. I am NOT 25." The class sat in complete and total silence...shocked. The only thing I was shocked about was the fact that she had the courage to stand up and be REAL.

How many of us are real?! It just seems like every blog I read people are always blowing sunshine! Are they really that happy?? Or are they being fake?? Is everyone's husband REALLY that awesome?? Kids that perfect?? Now, I'm not saying the internet is the place to air your dirty laundry but really...my life is not sunshine all the time! GASP!

They are either fake or whiny. There doesn't seem to be an in between. It's either pretending everything is great or blowing everything out of proportion.
