Slacker...or Not

It has been brought to my attention that I am a blog slacker! But, do not be fooled...I have not been slacking in any other department of my life! School is INSANE...and I mean it! I would NEVER EVER EVER suggest to anyone, not even my biggest enemy, to take 21 hours in a single semester! I mean, I'm glad I'll be able to graduate next December because of it, but it's self torture. On top of all the school I have planned two baby showers, had C's drill team practice and games, A's girl scouts, Hubs work promotion and change of work schedule (you would think him changing work schedules wasn't a big deal...but it's huge since we plan our whole life around his 2 day work weeks), my pregnant BFF and sister, swine flu kids, and making sure all my ducks are in a row for internship next semester. Someone, please...send me a vacation!

Sing Something in September or November

Me: "What'd you do in girl scouts today?"

Youngest Daughter: "Oh, nothing really."

Me: "Really? You guys just sat there?"

YD: "Well, no. I colored three pictures and we talked."

Me: "Talked about what?"

YD: "I need a violet or some color shirt because we're going to sing something somewhere in September."

Me: "Sing something in September? Hmmm...September is really far away...are you sure it's not November?"

YD: "Yeah, I don't really know..."

Me: "Um, did you listen to anything they said!?"

YD: ::talking to her sister now:: "Hey C, you know what we did today??"

I give up...

Crossing Guards are Exempt

Background Info:

"A new state law will prohibit the use of wireless communication devices while operating a vehicle in a school zone. Violators must pay a fine of up to $200 per violation.

House Bill 55 is set to take effect on September 1, and is intended to promote the safety of students.

A few facts about the law:

Provisions under the law will allow drivers to use cell phones in school zones with a hands-free device or when their vehicle is stopped.

School bus drivers will be affected, too.

The law is an amendment of the Texas Transportation Code, section 545.425.

An additional exception is provided in emergency situations, when a driver needs to use a cell phone in a school zone to contact police, fire, or emergency medical personnel."

Ok, I get it...they want us off our cell phone while in a school zone...fine...my sister got a ticket for this very thing the 3rd day it went into effect...except she was on SPEAKER PHONE...guess that isn't hands free?! Anyway...today I was driving home and I see a CROSSING GUARD on her cell phone...sooo are the people who cross the children across busy streets exempt from this law?! Pretty sure if she were crossing my children I'd want her full attention....just saying!

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Oh, my dear readers (all two of you) I hate to break the news to you this way but I didn't know how else to do it......the time has come for me to end my beloved relationship with....Amazon. I know I've talked about my love of Amazon on here before and I was madly in love with their "one click shopping" feature...but never again will I click that sweet little yellow button. Shall I explain?

I lost faith in Amazon all because of ONE person. I know, I'm being a little hard on them but I'm THAT mad about it. I've been selling Hubs' used video games and my old textbooks on Amazon for quite some time...I have a perfect 5 star rating as a seller and I was proud of that. It's not often that you see a seller who has perfect feedback. Anyhow, about a month ago I sold one of hubby's PS3 games to a person we'll just call "B"...of course that "B" means nothing ;)...a week later I get an email from "B" saying they got a PSP game from me when they ordered a PS3 game. Umm, no! We don't own a PSP...now had they gotten the wrong PS3 or even a Wii game I could MAYBE understand....because we do have many games and I normally ship a lot out at a time...but no, they said a PSP game...this immediately threw up a red flag to me...I clicked over to their storefront and their feedback was HORRIBLE...many people complaining about them as a buyer and a seller....awesome. I emailed them back and tell them there is NO WAY, for one we don't own a PSP and for two...NO...I didn't send the wrong game. They argued back and forth...finally I said just send my game back and I'll refund your money...they said "ok, ill send it back tomorrow." Well three weeks later I got the game.......the WRONG game...it's a PSP game. I emailed them and said I got the game but it's not mine and I will not be refunding their money but will gladly ship the PSP game back to them because it's not mine. THEY FLIPPED...emailed me calling me a liar and saying they would report me to Amazon and blah blah....ladies....if you want to ever piss me off and never be my friend again...call me a liar. I may be many things but I am NOT a liar. That word really ticks my timer. I couldn't even respond to them because I was that mad. I get an email from Amazon saying someone is disputing my sale and blah blah blah....so anyway, this "B" person left me HORRIBLE feedback and basically called me a liar on a public website. They are requesting I refund them immediately, I'm not going to!! And I won't...Amazon will have to debit my credit card themselves...I will NOT click on that "refund" button for this "B" person....will not I say! I am currently disputing the claim with Amazon and depending their decision...we may or may not attend counseling to work on our relationship but as of right now....we're done! All because of one person! All because someone is trying to rip me off...IF Amazon takes the money out of my account I will be out a PS3 game AND $47 bucks!! Oh sweet Amazon, don't do it!

Eye Exam Follow Up

I feel like I should post a follow up to my eye dr appt! So, here goes...I went in for my 1 week follow up appt for the dr to see how the new contacts were working out for me. Everything was fine except I mentioned, I don't know why, that the previous day my right eye was burning, a little blood shot, and I just wore my glasses to prevent from irritating it any further but that it wasn't currently hurting anymore! So, the eye doc shines that bright little light into my eye, quickly puts it down, stands up and types something into my chart...all the while not saying one.single.word. I'm kind of getting nervous so I said, "Is my eye ok?!" and her reply was, "No." Insert mini panic attack. No?! I only have TWO eyes and they both suck so I really need them BOTH is all I was thinking! She gathers up some "supplies" and says we need to move to another room. She practically runs into another exam room and tells me to sit down....ok...I sit down and she turns off the lights, drops some of those orange eye drops in my eye and looks into my eye with a blue light...she then takes a picture of the back of my eyeball and it pops up on a computer monitor. She goes over and points at something and says, "You have something on your cornea. It needs to be removed as soon as possible. Do you see it?" Ok, first of all...I'm about 5 feet from the computer and secondly...I'm BLIND with my contacts/glasses so NO lady, I don't see it!! I half laugh/cry and say "What is it?!" and the response I get is, "I don't know but it needs to come out." You don't know!? I'm thinking is it a tumor?! I mean really, what is in my eyeball?! She says, "Do you want me to remove it right now?" Uh, not really, seeing as you don't know what it is and I'm alone! I was shocked and in my daze I said, "I guess..." Stupid...stupid me. She says I need to sign a surgical release form...holy cow. Before I could sign anything she is dropping numbing eye drops in my eye and digging around my cornea to remove whatever was on there!! After a few attempts and pictures of my eyeball she says she got it and walks out......

I help myself to the front desk and pay the "surgical fee" and drive myself home...my eye is watering like crazy and burning and my vision is blurry...I call my sister who used to work for an eye dr and she calls him to make sure this is all normal since I wasn't given any directions! Apparently when your cornea is messed with your vision will become blurry and your eye will water. All was well 24 hours later...and whatever was on my cornea is now gone...hopefully for good!

See why I hate the eye dr?!

Show Us Your Life - Wedding Shower

For the simple fact that I'm not ready to discuss my overwhelming school schedule because I could possibly freak out...I present you with Show Us Your Life - Wedding Showers!

My original bridal shower was set for September 13, 2009...but Hurricane Ike changed that for us! I had to suck it up and have my shower the weekend BEFORE my wedding! A lot of people weren't able to attend and the facility my sister had spent a great deal of money on was booked for that weekend but they managed to stuff us in a teeny tiny back room...but, whatever, it worked!

Here's me and my best friend working hard on the shower favors! She has a weird texture phobia...she can't stand the way terracotta feels so she wore some nice blue gloves. ;)

Final product! We filled them with M&M's that had our names and wedding date on them!

Purrrrr

Our cat, Daisy, wants NOTHING to do with me normally...that is, of course, unless I'm sleeping!! She will bite me, she will purr in my face, and she will do this....

She will sleep on my back, my legs, and most recently, my neck! Seriously Daisy!!

Eye Test Exam

Eye Exam Pictures, Images and Photos

Our oldest daughter and I went to the eye doctor last week. I was way over due for a vision exam and my contacts were beginning to grow stuff on them...sick! My glasses are about 5 years old so I was in a bind. I've been putting it off for two reasons...first reason being it's so expensive! Even with vision insurance! And secondly, I get stressed out when I go! Seriously! My heart start racing, my palms sweat, and my foot starts moving back and forth very quickly! Does anyone else feel like an eye exam is a test that the eye doctor is setting you up to fail?! Or am I a freak? That, "1 or 2, 3 or 4? Better or the same? The same or worse?" Those questions totally freak me out!! What if 1 and 2 look the EXACT same?? Or what if it's not better or the same and it's actually worse? Worse wasn't an option per the doctor! And then that dreaded instruction, "Read the smallest line you can" and my response is, "I can't see anything" then the dr says, "Nothing?!" Yep, you heard me...nothing! Not even that big ass E that I KNOW is on the top. Ugh, see...I'm stressing out again. Right when I think the exam is wrapping up the doctor says, "Did someone drive you here?" Ooooh, no...I know what that means! My eyes will be dilated! Baby girl had her eyes dilated too! BTW, she no longer has to wear glasses. Lucky girl!

After the drops are in and my eyes start dilating the little assistant comes in and says, "While your eyes dilate would you like to go pick out frames?" Ummm, yeah lady, excellent idea! I can't focus on anything so I'd LOVE to go pick out some frames...not to mention I don't have contacts in so I'm TOTALLY blind so can't see the frames on my face and my eyes are now so dilated the sun that is shining through the windows is killing me! I have no idea what my new glasses will look like...I took the genius' word on a pair I tried on! If I hate them, I will totally blame her...or the hubs because he said, "Sure" when I modeled them for him with my eyes tightly closed.

So, that's my eye doctor story...oh, and if you're wondering what an eye exam, glasses, and contacts cost now days with insurance...it's in the ball park of $400!! Those glasses better be cute!

Call It A Day

I'm not trying to hate on anyone but really...it's about time!!!

"Brooks & Dunn are done. The best-selling country duo posted a message on its Web site Monday saying they've agreed to "call it a day" after 20 years of making music together"

80's or 90's?

My husband collects coins. Awesome, I know. ;) Anyhow, he was sitting on the floor going through them and sorting them...however you sort old coins....money you can't spend! Our youngest daughter sits down beside him and starts asking two million questions as usual. She picks up some ancient coin and says:

YD: "How old is this one

Hubs: "Really really old. Before there were a lot of people around

YD: "Oh, so from the 80's or the 90's? Because that was a looong long time ago!"

Nice. I was born in the early 80's and Hubs was born in the late 70's...guess we're ancient.

Weird?

Is it weird that I still get happy when my dad says, "I'm proud of you!"? Well, weird or not, I still love to hear my dad tell me that!

Dog Whisperer

We've had Lucee, our dog, for almost a year and a half. She has umm somewhat settled down, is finally able to stay in the house unattended, of course totally house trained, and also our oldest daughters BFF!

Hubs and I play "fetch" with Lucee, if you want to call it that. We throw her rope toy, she runs to get it, runs back to us and just stands there with it in her mouth. She won't drop it and most times will run off when we try to take it from her. We throw the toy in the air and she watches it hit the ground then picks it up. Hmm, ok..maybe she just doesn't have the concept down yet.

Enters our oldest daughter...she throws the toy...Lucee runs and gets it and returns it to C and promptly drops it. C throws it into the air...Lucee jumps up and catches it mid air. Seriously?! These two have a special little bond going on. They will cuddle up on the floor together, C will sit on the floor next to Lucee's water bowl and watch her drink, she takes her outside to potty...they are stuck together!

It's so adorable and Hubs and I have started called C the dog whisperer...all in love!

Girly Girl

My best friend, Candace, found out what their baby will be...and I'm sure you can guess from the title of this post!! It's a girl!! I'm so happy for her...she really really wanted a baby girl...even though I told her they are extremely expensive! LOL She is due December 13, 2009. I've already started planning her baby shower that I will throw in November. I can't wait! Ok, that's all for now. Just wanted to share that info!

Also, my sister is expecting again! Yay! She is due in January 2010 and will find out the sex of the baby in September. She's hoping for another baby boy!

Show Us Your Life - Wedding Details

As I said last week...I love everything wedding so I'm joining in Kelly's Korner Show Us Your Life!

Our wedding was at Ella's Garden in Tomball, TX...it was a beautiful facility that housed our ceremony (outdoors) and our reception (indoors). It took place at sunset under a beautiful white gazebo!

(I took this picture from the upstairs dressing room right before our guests were seated)

My best friend, her mom (mom 2nd mom), and I made all the flowers for our wedding! And uh...evidently we took no pictures! LOL They were gorgeous though!

(This was from my prebridal shoot with Homeshade Photography...those shoes hurt real bad by the way!)

Our wedding party was small...3 on each side! My matron of honor was my sister, Sherie', my bff since 1st grade, Candace, and my college roommate and bestest, Marissa stood on my side. Mike, Shawn, and Eric, hubs fire brothers, stood on his side. Our daughters were our flowers girls and our nephew was the ring bearer. My ladies were chocolate brown and carried Fall colored flowers.

The ONLY thing I really really wanted at our wedding was a string trio. I was willing to splurge...say, um...$350 for 30 minutes for them!! (My dad actually ended up paying for this for us ;)

My girls trying to figure out how to bustle my dress after the ceremony!

The music for our ceremony was of course played by the string trio...it included...

Prelude
JESU JOY OF MANS DESIRING

Seating of the parents
ODE TO JOY

Bridesmaid Processional
CANON IN D

Bridal Processional
BRIDAL CHORUS

Recessional
WEDDING MARCH

These were our programs and favors...

And there's our ceremony...next week will be our reception! Ha! If you're not already bored to tears!!

Socks & Shoes

Conversation between Hubs and I last Saturday:

Hubs: Did you clean the house today?

Me: Uh, yeah! Didn't you see me and CAN'T you tell?? (frustrated because the day before we busted our butts in the house...steam cleaned carpets, moved every piece of furniture, cleaned baseboards, windowsills, ceiling fans, window treatments...EVERYTHING)

Hubs: Oh, k...just wondering why my socks are still here? (On the fireplace)

Me: Weird, I was wondering why YOU left them there...

Hubs: So, why didn't you pick them up?

Me: Why did you leave them there?

Hubs: (No response)

Needless to say...I left the socks there...so did he...until TODAY...4 days later...

Text to Hubs today while he's at work from me: Lucee (the dog) is carrying your sock around in her mouth.

Hubs: Little shit, at least she picked it up though.

Me: Yep...and I think I'll let her carry around the two pairs of shoes you left in the living room next.

I haven't heard from him since...

Show Us Your Life - Wedding Dresses

Kelly's Korner is hosting Show Us Your Life and today is Wedding Dresses! Yay! I haaaad to play along because I love wedding dresses...and everything wedding related. I'd do it all over again if my husband would let me. ;)

These are a few of my prebridal pictures. I had the BEST photographer! She doesn't normally do prebridals because she doesn't do weddings but she agreed to do mine! Yay! Check her out here.

I loved my dress. It was champagne and ivory...we had a Fall wedding and I thought the colors fit. I had always wanted a wedding dress with a splash of color....way before it was popular and by the time it was my turn to get married dresses with color were/are super popular so I lost interest in that.

This is the only one I have of the back of my dress. This is of course my daddy walking me down the aisle!

What's In That Thing?

I looove BIG purses...I'm small...but just love big purses...my husband always says, "What's in that thing?!" so I decided to share...

1. My new black wallet. I love it!
2. Car keys
3. A flyer from Hobby Lobby showing how to decorate for a Pirate birthday party for my BFF's little ones birthday party.
4. Wintergreen Chapstick...I used more than half of it in Vegas!
5. Germ-X...don't leave home without it!
6. Excedrine Menstrual ;)
7. Nasonex...also used more than half in Vegas...not used to the dry air there.
8. Pressed Powder...you know, for my shiny face when my husband asks if I showered!
9. Sample of the new Coach perfume that the lady in the store gave us today.
10. Avon lip gloss...loooove this stuff!
11. Glasses case
12. Sunglasses
13. Cell...never leave home without it!
14. Huggies wipes...they are so soft and come in handy for sticky kiddo hands!
15. Pens & pencils
16. Candy & gum...those Altoids are lethal!
17. The $1 I have to my name right now. ;)
18. Checkbook...that's pretty useless. LOL

So, what's in YOUR purse?!
