3rd Time is a Charm
I know...I know...I have been a terrible blogger!! I could come up with a million reasons why I haven't touched my blog in months but they would be just that, excuses!! One thing I HAVE been doing is searching endlessly for a teaching job...and was having ZERO luck. I started applying for jobs before I even graduated in December of 2010...never heard a word...not one single word. I applied to a million jobs over the summer, same thing...nothing. Once the school year started up and I was still unemployed I started to feel pretty discouraged and was trying to decide what to do with my life! Go back to school? Look for a job outside of teaching? I applied for several office jobs...didn't hear back....I applied for several aide positions, thinking at least I could be IN a school even if it wasn't in my own classroom. I finally got called for two aide positions....one was for an In School Suspension aide and the other was for an ESL aide...neither of which I really wanted but was willing to do my best and take the position if it was offered...well, they never called back! Then....this Wednesday (9/21/2011) my phone rings about 10:30am and it's an elementary school I'm familiar with and they want me to go in for an interview that very day at 4:45pm....I said absolutely!! Husband was working so I arranged for someone to take care of our kiddos and scurried about to get ready for my interview. I interview with the entire team of 4th grade teachers and the principal...just so happens I KNOW one of the teachers very well...she's my best friends mom! I left with a feeling of excitement and anxiousness....i felt like I did well but just wasn't sure!! Thursday after I was at my friend Erin's office playing Scentsy lady and I got a phone call from the principal...and was offered the job!!! So, I am now officially a 4th grade teacher!!! I can hardly believe it. I'm excited, nervous, and scared all wrapped into one!! God is so good and He heard my prayers!!! So, here goes nothing....my journey as a first year teacher starts NOW!
