Another One Down

Well friends...another semester down...and ONE more (not including a summer class) to go!! I can't believe I'll be graduating in 7 months!! This has been a veeeerrryyy long process for me. Sometimes I feel like "ok, really, most people are finished with medical school in the amount of time it is taking you to complete your bachelors degree." But then I think, "who cares?! AT LEAST I'm finishing my degree!"

My parents got divorced when I was 16 and I promised myself that no matter what...even if I'd never use my degree...I WOULD complete it. I unfortunately had to witness my mom, who was a SAHM of 3 kids for 20 years, take life on all alone and with no college degree or work history. It broke my heart and since that point I've wanted a degree to fall back on!

And at the risk of sounding INSANE...I think I may get my Masters degree...why stop now? ;)

So Long, Lil Kim

After 10 years and 107,700 miles..."Lil Kim" (don't ask), my 2001 Civic, is NO longer mine! My fab husband bought me a GMC Yukon! I am so stinkin' excited...it's not even funny! We kept Lil Kim for hubs to drive to work because his truck is getting a lot of wear and tear and miles on it...so she's not far...but don't think I'll be driving her anytime soon! I looove looove my truck!! And she needs a name...

And this is what the kiddos said when I got home with it, before hubs got home...."Ummm, does Daddy know about this?!"

And the Vomit Continues...

Evidently our youngest daughter likes to keep us on our toes with....vomit! This is how it went last night about midnight...

Youngest Daughter: ::yelling from her bedroom:: Daddy!! Daaadddyyyy!!

Hubs: ::running into her room:: What?! What's wrong?

Youngest Daughter: ::standing by her bedroom door:: My belly huur....::projectile vomit:: hurts.

Hubs: Go into the restroom!!

YD: ::walks into restroom...stands in front of the toilet and vomits all over the lid...without raising it::

I enter about this time: What's going on?!

Hubs: She just threw up ON the toilet.

Me: Well, better than her bed...

And then I begin scrubbing vomit off of her bedroom wall and carpet and hubs begins scrubbing the bathroom...at midnight....and then she continues to vomit all night...BUT she made it IN the toilet the rest of the night....HOPEFULLY she has the concept down now...vomit goes IN the toilet....

And the joys of motherhood continue!!

Vomit

If vomit bothers you...I suggest you leave now......Don't say I didn't warn you!

Tuesday Morning - 6:25am

Husband walks into youngest daughter's room to wake her up for school...upon entering he smells THAT smell, you know what I'm talking about...

Youngest daughter wakes up: Daddy, there's something WET in my bed!!

Husband: What?! What is it? Did you go potty?? (really confused because luckily we've NEVER had that problem)

YD: Oh no, I throwed up last night. (she says this very nonchalantly) (I also know "throwed" is not a word...and so does she, but she chooses to use it!)

Husband: What?! Why didn't you call for us?

YD: I didn't know if I was supposed to. I feel fine though.

A few minutes later....

Me: Why didn't you go to the restroom??

YD: I didn't have to potty!!!!

So yeah, our kid threw up in her bed SOMETIME during the night...because hello people...she DIDN'T need to potty...didn't bother to yell for us so we could clean it up...she totally slept in a vomit filled bed all night. I then threw up myself when I cleaned it...it was an awesome morning I tell ya! I gave her a friendly reminder that if you ever feel like you're going to throw up, go to the restroom!! Even if you don't have to potty!!

Wolf & Cat

Youngest Daughter: (very serious tone) DADDY!! Me and C think I'm part WOLF!!!

Hubs: (holding in laughter) Why do you think that?

YD: Because Daddy...look...I can make these teeth (eye teeth) move up and down! Watch! ::Rubbing her finger up and down on her eye teeth)

Hubs: ::watching...nothing happening::

YD: See it Daddy??

Hubs: Yeah...I saw that! ::turning around, bright red, from holding in laughter::

YD: ::running off:: See, C!!! Daddy thinks so too!!

Seriously you guys, the stuff this kid comes up with is crazy!! She really thinks she's part wolf because her eye teeth "move." She felt her finger moving up and down and thought it was her tooth! LOL

A few hours earlier while blow drying their hair, I hear this convo...

Younger Daughter to Oldest: You know that little bity girl in my class? (there is a little girl with CF in her class and she truly is tiny and oh so adorable!)

Oldest: Yes...what about her?

YD: I think she's part cat...

OD: Why? Because she's so little?

YD: Yeaaah! She's soooo tiny!! She must be part cat....

I honestly have no idea where my child is getting these ideas....she's part wolf and her friend is part cat because she's tiny!! Gotta love kids...

Stupid

The washing machine is dinging, the dryer is buzzing, the dog is running damn circles in the living room, the cat is banging her scratching toy against the bedroom door, my husband is at work for 36 hours (seriously), the dishwasher won't drain (still), my child keeps getting in trouble at school for not listening, running, etc., and my computer just froze up and I lost my homework I had been slaving over....seriously? Oooh, and the stupid weather won't make up it's mind. News flash...this is TEXAS, it doesn't snow 3 times in one winter here!! This is stupid. I want to pout like a 2 year old...or drink a lot of wine.

Internship...

Woo...long time...let me see if I still know how to do this! I know I said I'd be back after my self-inflicted horrendous Fall 2009 semester was over...but I did nothing, well, nothing productive, for two weeks! I just didn't feel like typing when I didn't have to...I knew my computer time would be back soon with Internship 1 starting. I totally got ripped off on my winter break. The university doesn't go back until January 19th but intern started...TODAY...and yesterday I had professional development alllllllllll day...and I have it again next Tuesday...and Friday. Needless to say...it was a way too short break. I spent the first half of it in El Paso visiting in-laws....yes, it was as exciting as you think.

My bff of 20 years had her baby girl on December 18 and my sister is scheduled for a c-section next week because baby C is breech and he's not moving into the correct position! Boo for that but yay for him coming!!

I think I'm going to abandon this blog...yes, more than before...and start keeping an internship blog....anonymously, of course...because I have kindergarten (btw, it was the grade I threatened to slit my throat if I go)...and we all know kids say the darnedest things! I want to remember the good times in intern...and hopefully if I blog the funny things I'll remember WHY I wanted to be a teacher in the first place. ;) I'll let my huuuuuuuuuuge group of blog readers know if/when I start this.

BTW...I graduate on December 18, 2010...not that I'm counting or anything!

Is That Light?

I'm starting to see some light at the end of this tunnel I call school...I'll be back when I reach it! 3 finals down, 4 to go!

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Oh, my dear readers (all two of you) I hate to break the news to you this way but I didn't know how else to do it......the time has come for me to end my beloved relationship with....Amazon. I know I've talked about my love of Amazon on here before and I was madly in love with their "one click shopping" feature...but never again will I click that sweet little yellow button. Shall I explain?

I lost faith in Amazon all because of ONE person. I know, I'm being a little hard on them but I'm THAT mad about it. I've been selling Hubs' used video games and my old textbooks on Amazon for quite some time...I have a perfect 5 star rating as a seller and I was proud of that. It's not often that you see a seller who has perfect feedback. Anyhow, about a month ago I sold one of hubby's PS3 games to a person we'll just call "B"...of course that "B" means nothing ;)...a week later I get an email from "B" saying they got a PSP game from me when they ordered a PS3 game. Umm, no! We don't own a PSP...now had they gotten the wrong PS3 or even a Wii game I could MAYBE understand....because we do have many games and I normally ship a lot out at a time...but no, they said a PSP game...this immediately threw up a red flag to me...I clicked over to their storefront and their feedback was HORRIBLE...many people complaining about them as a buyer and a seller....awesome. I emailed them back and tell them there is NO WAY, for one we don't own a PSP and for two...NO...I didn't send the wrong game. They argued back and forth...finally I said just send my game back and I'll refund your money...they said "ok, ill send it back tomorrow." Well three weeks later I got the game.......the WRONG game...it's a PSP game. I emailed them and said I got the game but it's not mine and I will not be refunding their money but will gladly ship the PSP game back to them because it's not mine. THEY FLIPPED...emailed me calling me a liar and saying they would report me to Amazon and blah blah....ladies....if you want to ever piss me off and never be my friend again...call me a liar. I may be many things but I am NOT a liar. That word really ticks my timer. I couldn't even respond to them because I was that mad. I get an email from Amazon saying someone is disputing my sale and blah blah blah....so anyway, this "B" person left me HORRIBLE feedback and basically called me a liar on a public website. They are requesting I refund them immediately, I'm not going to!! And I won't...Amazon will have to debit my credit card themselves...I will NOT click on that "refund" button for this "B" person....will not I say! I am currently disputing the claim with Amazon and depending their decision...we may or may not attend counseling to work on our relationship but as of right now....we're done! All because of one person! All because someone is trying to rip me off...IF Amazon takes the money out of my account I will be out a PS3 game AND $47 bucks!! Oh sweet Amazon, don't do it!

Show Us Your Life - Wedding Shower

For the simple fact that I'm not ready to discuss my overwhelming school schedule because I could possibly freak out...I present you with Show Us Your Life - Wedding Showers!

My original bridal shower was set for September 13, 2009...but Hurricane Ike changed that for us! I had to suck it up and have my shower the weekend BEFORE my wedding! A lot of people weren't able to attend and the facility my sister had spent a great deal of money on was booked for that weekend but they managed to stuff us in a teeny tiny back room...but, whatever, it worked!

Here's me and my best friend working hard on the shower favors! She has a weird texture phobia...she can't stand the way terracotta feels so she wore some nice blue gloves. ;)

Final product! We filled them with M&M's that had our names and wedding date on them!

Eye Test Exam

Eye Exam Pictures, Images and Photos

Our oldest daughter and I went to the eye doctor last week. I was way over due for a vision exam and my contacts were beginning to grow stuff on them...sick! My glasses are about 5 years old so I was in a bind. I've been putting it off for two reasons...first reason being it's so expensive! Even with vision insurance! And secondly, I get stressed out when I go! Seriously! My heart start racing, my palms sweat, and my foot starts moving back and forth very quickly! Does anyone else feel like an eye exam is a test that the eye doctor is setting you up to fail?! Or am I a freak? That, "1 or 2, 3 or 4? Better or the same? The same or worse?" Those questions totally freak me out!! What if 1 and 2 look the EXACT same?? Or what if it's not better or the same and it's actually worse? Worse wasn't an option per the doctor! And then that dreaded instruction, "Read the smallest line you can" and my response is, "I can't see anything" then the dr says, "Nothing?!" Yep, you heard me...nothing! Not even that big ass E that I KNOW is on the top. Ugh, see...I'm stressing out again. Right when I think the exam is wrapping up the doctor says, "Did someone drive you here?" Ooooh, no...I know what that means! My eyes will be dilated! Baby girl had her eyes dilated too! BTW, she no longer has to wear glasses. Lucky girl!

After the drops are in and my eyes start dilating the little assistant comes in and says, "While your eyes dilate would you like to go pick out frames?" Ummm, yeah lady, excellent idea! I can't focus on anything so I'd LOVE to go pick out some frames...not to mention I don't have contacts in so I'm TOTALLY blind so can't see the frames on my face and my eyes are now so dilated the sun that is shining through the windows is killing me! I have no idea what my new glasses will look like...I took the genius' word on a pair I tried on! If I hate them, I will totally blame her...or the hubs because he said, "Sure" when I modeled them for him with my eyes tightly closed.

So, that's my eye doctor story...oh, and if you're wondering what an eye exam, glasses, and contacts cost now days with insurance...it's in the ball park of $400!! Those glasses better be cute!

80's or 90's?

My husband collects coins. Awesome, I know. ;) Anyhow, he was sitting on the floor going through them and sorting them...however you sort old coins....money you can't spend! Our youngest daughter sits down beside him and starts asking two million questions as usual. She picks up some ancient coin and says:

YD: "How old is this one

Hubs: "Really really old. Before there were a lot of people around

YD: "Oh, so from the 80's or the 90's? Because that was a looong long time ago!"

Nice. I was born in the early 80's and Hubs was born in the late 70's...guess we're ancient.

Girly Girl

My best friend, Candace, found out what their baby will be...and I'm sure you can guess from the title of this post!! It's a girl!! I'm so happy for her...she really really wanted a baby girl...even though I told her they are extremely expensive! LOL She is due December 13, 2009. I've already started planning her baby shower that I will throw in November. I can't wait! Ok, that's all for now. Just wanted to share that info!

Also, my sister is expecting again! Yay! She is due in January 2010 and will find out the sex of the baby in September. She's hoping for another baby boy!

SYTYCD

I don't watch So You Think You Can Dance but I did happen to stumble upon this video clip of a routine performed on the show yesterday and it literally brought me to tears...just like most things have this past week. What's up with that?!

As most of you know my dad has fought cancer and like one of the judges said...anyone with cancer believes they can beat it. Luckily for my family, my dad did beat it but I have known way too many people who weren't so lucky. Watch this video...even if you're not a dance person...it will bring you to tears.

I Know...

I suck as a blogger right now! I just don't feel like it...how's that for a reason?! There aren't many things in my life that I can say that to/about...but I can say that about blogging and follow through with it! Like for instance...my husband has a "To-Do" list for tomorrow and Friday...tomorrow consists of taking down ALL of the blinds in the house and scrubbing and bleaching them...and Friday is shampoo the carpet day. Now, those are two things I'd LOVE to say "I don't feel like it" to but for whatever reason Hubs frowns upon that phrase of mine. Humph...the nerve! So for now...I'm not going to blog about my trip to Vegas...or my insane school schedule next semester...or the 3-4 hour naps I've been taking...or my children's birthday parties...or that fact that my cat vomited all over our bed and the dog vomited on the carpet...because I just don't feel like it!

I'll be back soon!

Umbrella Hater

I don't like hate umbrellas! There are many reasons for this...such as, what exactly ARE you supposed to do in the rare event that you make it to your car dry because you actually used the umbrella...do you get in the car while trying to close the umbrella outside the door? Do you close the umbrella when you get to the car and then hop into the car quickly? I haven't figured this one out yet...and I haven't figured out what to do with the WET umbrella once you do get it into the car? Do you drip it across the passenger seat and onto the floor? Do you put it down by your feet and run the risk of getting tangled up in it while driving and perhaps causing an accident? OR do you do something like this...

Once upon a time there were three young teenage girls who moved away to a wonderful college town just a mere month after graduating high school...some people refer to it as Aggie land...the young lovelies chose to call it "Coolage Sta." That name may or may not have been established after the consumption of alcohol...really, it's not my place to share that information. =) Anyhow, these young ladies had some weird aversion to school. It could have been the new found freedom they were experiencing, the awesome house they lived in, the cash flow their parents provided(none of the ladies worked), the alcohol consumption (again, not my place to share), ooor it could have been as simple as something called rain. Rain! Let me share a rain story with you about these three girls...

On one of the rare occasions that all three of the girls made it to school together it was raining! One of the girls, let's call her "Amy", was carrying an umbrella while hiking across the campus parking lot. Yes, am umbrella...you know, those stupid things that are supposed to keep you dry when its raining, well the wind picked up and flipped the damn thing inside out. Wonderful! "Amy" simply chunked the umbrella down, turned around, and walked back to the car. No words were needed...the other two girls followed closely behind. Once in the safety of their car, mostly likely "Rissa's" brand new Tahoe, they drove to Chick-fil-A and ate breakfast before continuing home to return to the warmth of their beds. (This last sentence could be true or false, most likely true because this was done on more than one occasion.)

So ladies, that is my third option of what to do with an umbrella when it's raining. It's really your choice...

Disclaimer: The above story may or may not be based on actual people named, Aimee', Marissa, and Amanda.

Father's Day

I sure got lucky when I found my husband. Not only was/is he amazing to me, he was/is an amazing father to his two young baby girls. He was a single father for a few years before we met. Not commonly heard of these days! I think that's part of what attracted me to him, besides that cute little smile of his! I'm so thankful he has allowed me to be part of our not so baby girls lives! He is, unfortunately, working a 24 hour shift today at the fire department so we celebrated early yesterday. I bought him a new charcoal barbeque pit (we have a gas grill but evidently they cook differently, who'd thunk it?) and got him a gift card to his favorite video game store...man sure loves his video games. I made (he barbequed) steak and shrimp kabobs and bacon wrapped shrimp kabobs and we just spent time together. Today the girls are currently working on an art project for him and I'm baking some Ooey-Gooey Turtle Bars for him. We were going to go up to the fire station and deliver them for all the guys but hubs is filling in at a different fire station not so close to home. For their art project I typed up a list of questions about Daddy and left space for them to fill in the blanks. They hand wrote their answers and are currently decorating the paper with markers (no socks involved) and crayons. I'm going to then frame each one and the girls will give them to him tomorrow morning when he gets home. There's really nothing like a homemade gift...to me anyway. In the next few days I'll post their Q&A about Daddy.

And not to leave my own daddy out...he's in San Antonio for my step sister's softball tournament so we'll be getting together later this week. My dad has always been an amazing father who thought us to never accept anything but the best. He worked harder than anyone I know to provide for his family when we were young. My dad never told us no when we asked for something, even if he didn't have the money or means for it, he worked even harder to get it for us. There were many things I didn't agree with my dad about when I was a teenager but now find myself using some of his same parenting skills and tactics! He did know what he was doing after all! =) My dad has been dealt some bad cards the last few years (i.e. his cancer, his business, family issues) but he still stands strong and unbroken when most people would have given up. I love you daddy and always will! You were, after all, the first man I ever loved!

Designs

The girls and I met up with this awesome chick and her adorable kiddos today at the Museum of Natural Science...buuut you would have thought we visited the Art Museum after I discovered my girls "designs" this evening....enjoy.

Sorry about the quality of the picture but it's from my cell phone. These would be my sweet, darling, little girls socks! They CUT them and then COLORED them. Their response when I asked WHY? "We wanted to make designs." Designs? Ok, gotcha! Oh, and the other half of the socks are MIA.

Let's just say they've lost their scissors and marker privilege.

New Life

I'm still alive! Just living my life away from the computer. Hubs and I have been spending much needed quality time together. When I was working and going to school we were lucky to get an hour a day together...and most of the time I was doing homework during that time. Since he works 24 hours, 24 hours off, 24 hours on, and then off for 5 days we have PLENTY of time together! I love it! I've been cooking, can you believe it? I made Cheeseburger Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes last night...thanks Rachel Ray! I've been cleaning, a lot! I even have bruises from scrubbing the baseboards on my hands and knees today!! Can you believe that?! I don't like to clean anymore then I did before but...it's a small price to pay to get to stay home everyday!!

We're taking the girls out of daycare!! WOOHOO! I haaaaaaaaaaaaate daycare so I'm glad we're able to get them out of there! I plan on making our summer pretty scheduled just for the simple fact that if I don't I know the girls will be bored and drive us insane! =) We are really blessed that between my summer school schedule and hubs work schedule there is only ONE day we'll need to get a babysitter for 3 hours while I'm at school. Our neighbor has graciously offered to watch them that day.

We're having a family crawfish boil Saturday since we didn't get to have one for Easter. My mom is in town so we're working on getting her to move back to Texas! ;) We miss our Mama and it's time for her to come home!

I've tweaked and crammed my school schedule and will be able to hopefully graduate a semester earlier then expected...I'll probably be cussing myself later for doing this but I really want to graduate and be done with school! And no, I will NOT go back for my Master's. The school district can keep their $1,000 a year for a Master's degree. =)

Well, I think this post is random enough. Just wanted to update my few readers! Hope everyone is doing as well as I am! I love this new life!
