Epileptics Need Not Attend

First of all...I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas!! I know we did...even if the husband was at work and the kiddos were away...we made up for it the day before and the day after! I spent actual Christmas day at my sister's house with my mom, nephew, dad, stepmom, and brother in law. It was low key and delightful!

One of my presents from my husband was tickets to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra yesterday!! Wow, what an amazing show. I am completely blown away by the talent these musicians have. We had amazing floor seats...just wish I was about 2 inches taller so I could see over grandma's hair in front of me! TSO puts on the most brillant light show while they play...which is where my title of this post stems from. When it first started hubs and I both said..."I hope there arent any people with epilepsy here!" The lights are enough to send anyone into a nice seizure. =) But it was so much fun. They played for three hours straight. I look forward to seeing them again next year!! Enjoy the video below!

Prayers Please!

Hey guys...this will be short and sweet. One of my wonderful, helpful, loving, and oh so caring friends, Erin...is in need of some serious prayers! Her mom and dad are on vacation in Ohio right and her dad became really sick last night. They initially thought it was a stroke. He's currently in the hospital in Ohio and waiting on test results. Please please take a moment to say a prayer for this man...he's an awesome guy and works so very hard for his family. Erin is still in Texas so you can only imagine how she feels at this point...trust me..I've been in her exact shoes when my mom was so sick. It's very hard. Please pray for her strength as well!! Also her lovely Mom!!! I know she's tired...I called her at 7am today! Sorry Lynn!! Erin, I love your family and you and if there's ANYTHING you need just let me know!!

Milk, Juice, AND Water

I need to give you all a little history before I go on with my blog today...Our oldest daughter is a PICKY PICKY eater...like so picky the kid doesn't like ketchup! Our youngest will eat just about anything you put in front of her...including raw onions. Every morning our oldest looks at the lunch menu for school and decides if she wants her lunch packed or not...the school uses PayPAMS, if you aren't familiar with it...we put money into an account set up online and when the girls go through the lunch line they tell the cashier their number and the money is debited out of their lunch acct. Anyhow...We put $100 in their account not even a month ago...Monday our youngest comes home and says "The lunch lady said to tell you that I need money in my account." What?! We JUST put a $100 in there! So the hubs pulls up their account online and we view "purchases." Ok...SO they have been spending $4 a DAY. Hi, we have two kids...that equals $40 a WEEK. (see i can DO math) We see the kids are buying breakfast EVERY morning...problem is...they eat at home before school...and the other problem is...there is NO WAY ON THIS EARTH our oldest is eating anything they serve for breakfast!! We see they are buying lunch, bottle water, juice, snacks, and fruit cups...umm hello? When did schools start selling SNACKS? I thought they were all about providing children when a well balanced nutritional lunch? While we aren't mad they are buying food...we are upset that they are wasting food. We know darn well the oldest isn't eating anything on that breakfast tray...and we know darn well they don't have enough time to drink a milk, a bottle of water, and a juice..and the fact that we know our kids dont drink that much! My problem is the cafeteria allowing a 1st grader to purchase that many drinks! And come to find out...breakfast is just social time...their friends eat breakfast so the girls are going with them and the teacher's that have cafeteria duty are making anyone that goes in the cafeteria buy breakfast! Grrr!! So we sit the girls down and explain to them that IF they are still hungry after they eat the breakfast we serve them they need to tell us so we can give them more, explain that just because they aren't giving the cashier money that their lunch still cost money, that it's not OK to purchase 3 drinks...especially when you have a water bottle in your backpack. We tell them that they need to get whatever is on the lunch menu and that's it, no extras because they are being wasted. Ok...enough of my griping...the funny part is...yesterday our oldest goes to buy lunch and chooses enchiladas as her lunch choice and the lady tells her "ok, what sides do you want?" and our daughter procedes to tell her "my mom and dad said i can't get anything else." OMG! So she eats ONE enchilada and drinks milk for lunch *sigh* I can ONLY imagine what the lunch lady thinks of us now....

I can't believe it actually snowed in TEXAS!! The last time it snowed here was several years ago. These pictures were taken earlier in the night...it continued snowing for several hours afterwards. It was at least 3 inches in our backyard!
